Run a mobile detailing business, detailing shop, ceramic coating studio, or PPF business? Use this guide to check whether you already have a profile, claim or create it, and get it ready for customers on Google Search and Maps.
Creating or claiming a Google Business Profile is free. You can follow these steps yourself.
Follow these steps in order. The illustrated screens show which choices to look for; the wording in your own Google account may vary. Creating and claiming a profile is free.
Before you start
A Google Account controlled by the business owner
Your real business name, main phone number, website, hours, and service areas
Access to your location, signage, work vehicles or equipment if Google requests video verification
Enter your real-world business name as it appears on your signage, website, and customer materials.
Choose the primary category that best describes the core business, such as Car detailing service when detailing is your core business and that category is available. Add other categories only when they accurately describe what you do; do not choose a category just to target a keyword.
Do not add extra keywords or cities to the business name. If the profile already exists, go back and claim it.

STEP 04 / LOCATION
Choose the right address and service area
If customers visit your staffed detailing shop during stated hours and it has permanent business signage, enter that address.
If you detail vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces and customers do not visit your base, set up a service-area profile and hide your address from the public listing. Google may still need the real address for verification.
Enter cities or ZIP codes you actually serve (up to 20 areas). Google generally recommends an overall area within about two hours’ drive of your base. Adding distant cities does not make you rank there.
A ceramic coating studio that receives customers at its staffed, signed shop may show its address. A mobile detailer based at home should hide the residential address if customers do not visit. If you serve customers at your shop and travel to them, use a hybrid profile with both your eligible shop address and service areas. See Google's location rules and service-area instructions.
Already have a home address showing? Edit the existing profile: select Edit profile → Location → Business location, turn off Show business address to customers, and save. Add the cities or ZIP codes you actually serve. Do not delete the profile and start over just to hide the address. Google’s address instructions.

STEP 05 / CONTACT
Add your phone, website, and hours
Enter the phone number customers should use to reach this business.
Link to the relevant business website, ideally a page that clearly describes your services and locations.
Add your real operating hours and update special hours for holidays. Use hours when your business is actually available to customers.
Check these details before submitting. You can edit them later, but significant changes can sometimes require another verification. See Google's profile editing guide.

STEP 06 / VERIFY
Complete the verification Google offers
Review the verification method shown in your account. Google chooses the available methods, which may include video, phone or text, email, postcard, or live video.
Follow the on-screen instructions. If asked for a video, prepare to show the real location or service equipment and proof you manage the business.
Wait for Google's review and respond to any additional instructions in your account.
Verification methods vary. A mobile detailer may need to show the operating location, detailing equipment, a work vehicle, and proof of management. A shop may need its permanent signage and access to staff-only areas. Follow the specific checklist Google provides. Use Google's verification help and its video checklist.
Owner stays involved: The business owner should control the account and complete any identity or on-site proof Google requests. No agency can promise which method Google will offer or guarantee approval.

STEP 07 / COMPLETE
Finish the profile and keep it useful
Add the services you actually provide, such as interior detailing, exterior detailing, ceramic coating, paint correction, and paint protection film. Describe them accurately; listing a service does not guarantee rankings.
Upload genuine photos of your team, vehicles, location, and completed work; write a clear business description.
Review the profile on Search and Maps. Keep hours, service areas, and contact details current.
To work with MD Local Growth later, the owner can invite an authorized manager without sharing a password. The owner should retain primary ownership.

NO PROFILE YET
Unsure where to start?
Tell us what you do and where you serve customers. We can point you toward the right claim or setup steps for your detailing business.
Yes. Google does not charge to add or claim an eligible Business Profile. You can set one up yourself.
Can a home-based mobile detailer have a profile?
Usually, if it meets customers in person at their locations and follows Google's service-area rules. Hide a residential address if customers do not visit it.
Should I make another profile if an old one exists?
Usually no. Check whether it represents the same business and location, then claim or request access to the existing profile using Google's process.
Can MD Local Growth manage my profile later?
Yes, with your authorization. Keep primary ownership in an account you control and invite an authorized manager through Google's People and access settings. Never send your Google password.
